Green Biz LogoLong Beach Green Business Recognition Program

On July 1, 2010, the City of Long Beach announced the launch of the Long Beach Green Business Recognition Program, designed to encourage Long Beach businesses who have implemented sustainable practices to share their success stories and be recognized for going green.

Local businesses are invited to submit an online application highlighting their green efforts. Businesses who have implemented actions that reduce environmental impact, increase efficiency and promote conservation will have their business profile and best practices posted on www.sustainablelb.com and will be recognized at a Sustainable City Commission meeting.

To be considered for recognition by the Long Beach Green Business Recognition Program, a Long Beach business should demonstrate green business practices in each of the following areas: Waste Reduction & Recycling, Alternative Transportation, Green Purchasing, Water Conservation & Pollution Prevention, Energy Efficiency & Conservation, and Staff Training & Public Awareness.

Sustainability is a business strategy that has staying power because it can increase worker productivity, improve a company's public image and save money; none of which go out of style. The Long Beach Green Business Recognition Program encourages businesses to take responsibility and credit for positively contributing to a greener Long Beach.
